Our Jazz classes focus on furthering technique and applying classical technique to more modern styles. Expect to learn leaps, turns and kicks and integrate them into exciting combinations. Jazz dance is a style often used in theatre and the West End.

Ballet

Classical training is the foundation of nearly all styles of dance. Our ballet classes follow the ISTD syllabus to ensure the children learn the proper technique needed to flourish as dancers. Learn vital lessons in elegance, discipline and poise.  Miss Georgie, who currently teaches our ballet classes, trained in London with none other than Christine Beckley...Darcey Bussell's ballet teacher!

Commercial

As one of Sussex’s leading studios for Commercial Dance, we are incredibly proud of what we have created for young dancers.

AURA Commercial Dance Company is its own specialist arm of South Coast Studios, with a focus on group performance, choreographic creativity, confidence-building and developing strong, independent dancers.

Our classes are designed to empower young people, encouraging body confidence, self-expression and a positive relationship with movement. Alongside high-quality dance training, dancers become part of a supportive community where they can build friendships, develop resilience and gain invaluable life skills.

Commercial Dance has become an increasingly important part of training within top dance institutions and the wider professional industry. Drawing from styles such as Hip-Hop, Jazz, Contemporary and Street Dance, Commercial routines are high-energy, powerful and expressive. It is also a style that young people naturally connect with, as it is so present in everyday culture- from music videos and live performances to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and cheerleading.

We hold auditions for dancers to join AURA once per term and also regularly scout dancers at workshops throughout the year. If you would like to be a part of AURA, please reach out and we will provide information on the best way to join.

At AURA, we are committed to keeping all choreography, music and styling age-appropriate, while still giving our dancers exciting, current and high-impact training.

Contemporary

Contemporary classes draw on classical technique whilst allowing dancers the freedom to explore movement in their own way. Students learn to work with breath and gravitational pull with plenty of floor-work and expansive movements. Expect lyrical and expressive routines which encourage emotional connection.

Musical Theatre

Our Musical Theatre Classes focus on training triple-threat performers. Students learn singing, dancing and acting techniques through working on songs, scripts and musical numbers. Expect to learn high-energy West-End Musical numbers and learn how to combine all 3 disciplines- a whole skill in itself!

Strength & Stretch

Building a strong dance foundation means taking care of our bodies. Our Strength & Stretch classes focus on building strength in specific areas to enhance dance performance whilst also promoting safe practise. We aim to build muscles whilst also encouraging flexibility in order to create those beautiful lines, leaps and kicks that we all strive for.

Lyrical

Our Lyrical class for Senior dancers focuses on expressive movement that combines elements of ballet and jazz. This style encourages dancers to connect deeply with the music and develop artistry, control and emotional storytelling through movement.
